I am suspicious of change. Why? Because so many times in my life the most abrupt changes to the status quo have been challenging, exhausting, frightening, and just plain disruptive.
This Pandemic has certainly focused my attention on change. The world has undergone a profound alteration in response to an existential threat. Our social norms have been disrupted. The Pandemic has strained tolerance, and encouraged individuals who may harbor nefarious and selfish personal goals. Chains of supply have been severely challenged, giving rise to valid fears of scarcity.
I have also learned that change can have an upside. It gives me an opportunity to exercise the better side of my Self; love, understanding, gratitude, patience, sacrifice, and a search for peace.
Maybe I’ve Changed.
