How to Use Cream Eyeshadow Sticks on Mature Eyes: Easy Tutorial!

Tamara grew up believing she wasn’t pretty. Her mother had longed for a daughter who was girlie and into things like wearing pink fluffy skirts, makeup, jewelry, and Barbie dolls. Tamara, on the other hand, felt gawky, tomboy-ish, and not up to her mother’s expectations.

To top it off, Tamara chose a career in Environmental Policy and Management, a technical and more masculine profession. This sense of “not-enoughness” has dominated her self-assessment and kept her from expressing and playing with her own beauty.

Many of us carry these wounds throughout our lives allowing negative deeply held beliefs to dictate how we feel and the choices we make. Having said that, when Tamara took the immense step of coming to see me for a makeover, we began to challenge that perspective. With a little coaching, Tamara has become not only one of my favorite models, but also a more vibrant, glowing, and confident version of herself. In fact, this is our third video together!

With that in mind, today Tamara and I are using three alluring, brightening, and easy to use cream eyeshadow sticks for a beautiful and quick daytime look.

Step 1: Prep the Eye

Tamara’s finished brow.

BROWS! The biggest change you can make to your face is to fill in your eyebrows. Find a shade that matches your natural brow color and fill them in. For Tamara, I am using the PrimeBrow Complete in Taupe. It comes with a mousse and a colored applicator.

First, I use the mousse in order to:

Tame wild brows.

Help with brow growth.

Brighten natural brow color.

Then I use the comb applicator to brush hair upward and open the eye area. You can also use eyeshadow to fill in your brows, but if you tend to sweat on your face, the color might not stay put. Then I add a little eye primer or concealer to keep the shadow in place, especially if it’s hot outside. Concealers have a tendency to diminish the brightness of the shadow,so applying on either hydrated bare skin or a primer works best.

Step 2: Easy Apply!

Nebula, Stardust, and Estrella cream eye brighteners.

Cream eyeshadows are wonderful and easy to use for mature skin. We are using the PrimeEyes Eye Brighteners. Each color instantly lifts and brightens your eyes, comes in chic and sophisticated tones, stays on despite heavy lids, won’t smudge, and is buildable and beginner-friendly. Using Nebula, run it along the eyeline and into the outer edge in a “V” shape. Then apply Stardust over the inside of the lid, and lastly use Estrella in the inner corner or brow bone.

Step 3: Blend!

After that, take a blender brush, and blend all 3 shades so that they look seamless and soft over your eyes. If you want to make the color more intense, these cream sticks are buildable! Just add more product and blend as normal. If it works with your eye shape, you can also run color under your eye for a stronger look.

Step 4: Eyeliner

For a more defined look, I like to add a thin eyeliner to the outer edge. I am using PrimeEyes Glide Eyeliner in Emerald to make Tamara’s eyes pop. This liner is water resistant and blends easily for a soft look. For this video, I drew a thin line close to the eye and sometimes I add a small wing if it works with the eye shape. Then I draw a line on the inner eye (or waterline) for greater depth. After that I blend it so it’s not too strong.

Step 5: Eyelash Primer + Mascara

With such beautiful, soft eyeshadow, you need those long, luscious lashes we crave. I used PrimeLash Volumizer and PrimeLash Mascara to make Tamara’s eyes really stand out. In fact, the volumizer works so well, I didn’t even use an eyelash curler.

Final Look!

The incredible magic of seeing yourself as a beautiful, full of life woman is without a price tag. Women, to me, are the most powerful, untapped force in the world. Look in the mirror and tell yourself that even if your (mother, father, brother, stranger, ex-husband, etc.) left scars on your self-esteem, you can let it go and witness how incredible you are. These are not pithy catch phrases, they are what we are capable of and beyond. You, like Tamara, are stunning.
