count. But your legacy isn’t just the Stones and the Supremes—it’s also
the choices you made after the ’70s. It’s the kind of elder you’re being
right now. It’s whether you’re sharing what you learned or just enjoying
what you earned.
The best of Boomer culture was about believing that collective action
mattered. The worst of Boomer choices was believing your own comfort
mattered more. Both things are true.
Your grandkids are asking hard questions about climate, about equity,
about economic fairness. Some of them are dismissing you entirely.
Others are listening. The music that changed the world once—the music
*you made* or loved—it came from conviction, not cynicism.
